Dried Berries
Also called Dried blueberries, Dried cranberries
Almost every dried berry sold anywhere has been sweetened, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you something else. A blueberry or a cranberry that is simply dried comes out sharp enough that few people would finish a handful; the sugar or juice concentrate goes in to make the fruit edible, not to deceive you. What matters is that it is declared, and by how much.

We state the sweetening on every pack on this shelf, and we grade on whole fruit. A berry that survives drying intact has been handled gently and dried slowly; the broken, sticky fragments at the bottom of a cheap bag are what happens when neither is true. Ours are sorted for whole fruit and sealed while still soft.
Cranberries run tart and firm and hold their shape in baking. Blueberries are darker, softer and sweeter, and they bleed colour into anything wet, which is worth knowing before they go into a batter.
Both are sold loose by weight rather than in fixed retail packs, so you can buy the quantity you will actually get through — dried berries stiffen once a bag has been opened and left in warmth.
